I was born in the mid sixties in Stockport which, for those who have never head of it, is next to Manchester, England. My parents were season ticket holders for Manchester United FC, so no one blame me for my allegiance to the club - it's in my blood!

When I was still quite young we moved to Guernsey in the Channel Islands, where my mother was originally from. It was a lovely place to grow up, although I didn't appreciate it at the time. Whilst there I attended Hautes Capelles and La Mare de Carteret junior schools, and was then fortunate enough to win a scholarship to the Ladies' College.

After school I married and moved to Surrey to train as a nurse. I spent 4 years training as a Registered General Nurse and Registered Sick Children's Nurse at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, Carshalton. Sadly that particular hospital is no more, it's now just a wing of the local General - maybe they couldn't manage without me??  Hehehe!  I loved the children, staff and parents, but became disillusioned with the job once I qualified - I felt I was doing almost all admin and no nursing, a common complaint at the time. Soon after this I moved back to Guernsey as I was expecting my first child, Luke, born May 1989.

After a few years my marriage broke down and I met a new partner, who later became my second husband.  He and I had a daughter together, Joanna, who was born in August 1996.

When Jo was a few months old her father's job relocated to Poole, Dorset, and so that is where we are living now. Sadly that marriage also failed, so now the children and I live on our own with our cat, Fluff.

I am currently studying IT based courses with the Open University. The children and I have been actively involved with 2 local Gingerbread groups (for lone parent families), and I am a lunchtime supervisor at the local First School, where I used also to help out in the classroom at least once a week when Joanna was a pupil.

When I do have some spare time I like to use my computer and listen to music, mainly Darren Hayes, Savage Garden and a-ha, but I do like lots of other artists as well....to be honest however, these days I mostly listen to radio.   More about my musical taste on my interests page!

I enjoy a good movie, and used to like going to the theatre but circumstances don't allow that now.....apart from the occasional pantomime, of course.  I am not into playing sport, although I like watching from the sofa! Mainly football (soccer), but I also enjoy watching tennis, athletics, swimming, Formula 1...lots of sports, really.  I do like to go swimming, however, when I get the chance. For several years I belonged to a health and sports club, where I used to attend 'aquafit' classes twice a week on average. I can't afford at present to continue with that, but I hope one day to resume it as I certainly felt much fitter when I could do the classes!
